The Monthly JOW: “A Beautiful Mind” Sajjiah Parker
A beautiful life begins with a beautiful mind.” (Author unknown)
“Beautiful” and “mind”—the marriage of these two words captivates and intrigues me, and has caused me to ponder what it means to have a “beautiful mind.” Think of the two words independently: to be “beautiful,” by definition, not only applies to something being aesthetically attractive to the senses, but also may mean of a certain quality and standard of excellence. And “the mind” is such a complex and mystifying concept that delves into our state of thinking, being, and doing, of our conscious and subconscious mind, and our profound intellectual capabilities!
So when bringing the two into unison, what makes for a succinct and thorough summation of what it means for one to possess a beautiful mind? And, how does one acquire such a mind? After much careful thought, I have concluded:
A beautiful mind is: A strong, powerful mind! A positive, believing mind! An introspective, thinking mind! A focused, driven, and disciplined mind! A creative and passionate mind! A mind centered and one with God!
Ok… now read that one more time! When I read it back aloud, I am so inspired! How can such a mind be achieved?! It fact, it has become my passion and purpose to know and understand, so that by developing and fostering my own beautiful mind, I am able to feed and nourish the minds of my children, my family, my community, and, inevitably, the world. Truly, I believe that there is no greater act of compassion and selflessness for those we love and for humanity than the pursuit of personal enrichment, self-development, and self-improvement.
Where and how do we begin?
Per the eloquent and insightful words of one of my favorite philosophers, Lao Tzu, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Truer words have never been spoken: we can start now… here… wherever we are and begin this amazing life journey of personal transformation, enlightenment, and evolution. However, to get you on your way, the following blueprint for “building” a beautiful mind may serve as a useful guide:
1- Know who you are, and what you desire most to be, do, and have. This is of paramount significance because you must have a clearly defined purpose and intention before the manifestation of it is possible. This will require careful self-reflection and self-analysis.
2- Be visionary. See it vividly in your mind’s eye.
3- Create the feeling and the knowing (frequency and vibrational energy). This may best be accomplished by creating an environment that reflects and embodies the energy of everything you most desire for yourself and your life.
4- Plan: set goals. A goal without a plan is just a wish!
5- Act. Act immediately on inspired thought with consistency and persistence!
This blueprint is a part of the Building Beautiful Minds Curriculum, a labor of love developed by myself and friend/colleague Michele Robinson. The program, “The Blueprint: Building Success,” is a guided approach to self-discovery, self-development, and self-improvement. However, our primary mission is T.U.L.I.V.E!
